We are delighted that our project 1 Centenary Square has won the ‘Commercial’ category at the RICS Awards 2019, West Midlands.
1 Centenary Square, now home to HSBC is part of Arena Central, a £500 million mixed-use development scheme in Birmingham city centre being developed by Arena Central Developments LLP, a joint venture led by Kier. Hannan Associates are proud to be providing Building Services Engineering consultancy for the development scheme.
“The judges were amazed by the new HSBC building as a bespoke solution to the demands of new banking regulations and provides a fitting solution at the heart of the bank’s birthplace in Birmingham City Centre. The building – delivered by Arcadis, Make Architects and Galliford Try – nestles in-between neighbouring listed buildings without detracting from their presence due to its limited height and woven external cladding.
The 210,000 sq ft, 10 storey, Grade A office building designed by Make Architects accommodates around 2,5000 employees, providing high quality flexible working and break out spaces.
“I am very proud to have led the Hannan team on this major corporate HQ project, which has helped bring HSBC back to its roots and in turn raise the profile of Birmingham. The success of 1 Centenary Square has helped secure further development at Arena Central, which we are very happy to be a part of. We very much enjoy being a part of this team and I believe that this award is a well-deserved reflection of the hard work and commitment that everyone put into making this project a success.” Jamie Hall – Hannan Associates
Hannan Associates are very pleased to also be building services consultants for the neighbouring No. 3 Arena Central, a 240,000sq ft 14 storey office building currently under construction, which has been pre-let to HM Revenue and Customs.
Good luck to 1 Centenary Square, nominated in the ‘Commercial’ category award at the RICS Awards West Midlands 2019 taking place tonight at Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
